Subjects like this are marvelous to photograph, but as a rule, things that photograph well are often a bit anticlimactic in real life. The reclining Buddha is impressive in size and looks nice, however when you see it in person you realize that it's an old statue with patched up gold leaf of varying quality. Of course, it might be a little harder to impress people nowadays than it was back in 1932
