Pretty surely predates both of those. It's a bit of stonework on Carlisle Castle in the UK (one does not dare to say "in England" or "in Scotland" in these parts unless you're looking to draw some ire.) If I remember correctly, this would be part of the staircase of what became known as Queen Mary's Tower (Yes Mary, Queen of Scotts) and would have been initially constructed in the early 14th century.
