I've been there, it's pretty lunar and freaky. Also a sudden gas venting can overcome and kill a person or two. But it's incredible to see the Earth burp-up a hot lump of lava the size of a VW Bus. And it doesn't obey the laws of gravity the way you think a liquid might - because it only *looks* liquid, melty on the outside. Stuff gets pushed up, and then pushed up higher - it doesn't all flow downhill neatly.
